Weekend Recap

This weekend was full of wedding planning fun! On Friday I had my first bridal gown fitting. Even though our wedding is not until May, I wanted to talk with the alterations specialists and make sure they could make the changes that I want. It is going to be a lot of de- and reconstruction, but they are able to do it! That evening Tate and I went bowling with another couple we are friends with. I don't think I have been to a bowling alley in ten years and I was pretty awful. It makes me want to practice and get better though.

Saturday, I woke up bright and early to meet my friend Ashley, her sisters, mom, and fiance's mom in Cincinnati to do wedding dress shopping. We had two very different experiences at the two shops she had appointments at, and I learned so much about fabrics and sillhoueets, even though I wasn't the one doing the shopping. Between the appointments, we ate at Pompilio's in Newport, KY. Apparently, scenes from "Rainman" were filmed here. The food was so yummy and I had leftovers for dinner!

After a long drive home, I hit the sack early and woke up on Sunday ready to attend Charlie West's Bridal Expo. It was overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time. I can imagine that it is very overwhelming for newly engaged couples. I would feel like I MUST BOOK EVERYTHING NOW!!! Since the vendors weren't really relevant for my destination wedding, and my two friends out of state weddings, we sampled some of the catering and bakery goodies and entered a few drawings (**update - I saw a friend today who said she saw that I won something, hopefully, I'll get a phone call!)

I spent the afternoon looking in literally every single clothing store in Charlie West for a dress to wear to my shower, which is this Saturday. I ordered a dress online and it is too small, so I needed a quick replacement. I ended up buying two,  neither of which felt "bridal" to me. I will be returning them since I decided to wear this - a more bridal look than anything else:

I am still trying to resolve my invitation issues. I approved a proof of the invitations before Christmas and the full set arrived on Thursday. They were all the wrong size. Luckily the company I am working with fixed the mistake and had a new set printed and in the mail on Friday! Our box of envelopes (ordered separately for the colors/ textures needed) was trackable by UPS and their website says the box was "left at front door". The neighbors haven't seen them and neither have I. It has been two weeks now and my claim with UPS has gone unanswered and my email to that company suggested a "concerned neighbor might have brought it in" No, I already checked with them, and that  "the driver might have left the box behind a planter or bush" and to "check there".  It is a pretty funny situation and I have more than 7 weeks to put the invitations together and mail them out before the March 1st RSVP deadline, so I'm not too worried - it is more annoying that anything. There is a custom return address stamp, ink and a heat embosser waiting to be put to work though. :-)

I'm working on my 90 day post-op summary and am looking forward to spending time with family and friends this weekend!

  1. I can't wait to see your wedding come together! Yay for first fittings. My husband and I are renewing our vows and having a wedding in Oct. We went to the county clerk 9 years ago and I finally get to wear a wedding dress! :)
